How Shadow Edge handles copyright takedowns (DMCA)

This is a plain-language overview of how Shadow Edge responds to copyright complaints. The full, legally binding policy lives on our DMCA / Copyright page — this page just explains it in everyday terms.

The short version

Shadow Edge is a personal practice tool, not a place where content is published or shared. When you import something, it's fetched on your behalf and kept private to your account for your own practice — it isn't broadcast to anyone. Each person is responsible for having the right to use what they import.

If you're a rights-holder

If you believe your copyrighted work is being used on Shadow Edge in a way that infringes your rights, you can send a takedown notice to our designated copyright agent. Your notice needs to include the things the law requires — who you are, what work is affected, where it is, and a couple of good-faith statements. The exact checklist and the agent's contact details are on the DMCA / Copyright page.

If your content was taken down by mistake

If something of yours was removed and you believe that was an error, you can send a counter-notice. The steps are on the same page.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that receive repeated valid copyright complaints are terminated, in line with the policy on the DMCA page.

If you're a learner

The best way to stay clear of any of this is simple: only practice with material you have the right to use. See Your responsibility when practicing with copyrighted sources for practical guidance.
