Changing, cancelling, and downgrading your plan

Here's how upgrades, downgrades, cancellations, and refunds work, and what happens to your content when you move to a smaller plan. You manage all of it from Account → Plans and Account → Billing in the app.

Upgrading

Upgrades take effect immediately. You're charged a prorated amount for the rest of your current billing period, so you only pay for the time you actually have the higher plan — no waiting for the next cycle.

Downgrading or switching to a cheaper cadence

Moving to a lower plan (or from annual to monthly) is scheduled for the end of your current billing period, rather than happening right away. You keep your current features until then, and the new, lower price starts at your next renewal. Because you've already paid for the current period, a downgrade doesn't come with a refund — you keep what you paid for until it runs out.

Cancelling

You can cancel a subscription any time from Account → Billing. Cancelling stops the next charge; you keep your paid features until the end of the period you've already paid for, then the account moves to the Free plan.

What happens to your content on a smaller plan

Each plan has its own limits — how many items your private library holds, how much storage you get, and how long recordings are kept (see Plans: what each one includes). When you move to a smaller plan and you're over that plan's limits, Shadow Edge brings your account within the new limits.

Content over your new plan's limits is removed. A few days after a downgrade takes effect (around 3 days), anything beyond the new plan's allowances is deleted to bring you within them — for example, private-library items over the new item or storage limit, and recordings older than the new plan's retention window. This keeps the limits fair for everyone.

To avoid losing anything you want to keep, tidy up before you downgrade — or stay within the smaller plan's limits — so you choose what stays rather than letting the cleanup choose for you. If you're not sure what will be affected, it's worth checking your library size and storage against the new plan first.

The free trial

Starting a 14-day free trial requires a payment method, but you aren't charged during the trial. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, it automatically converts to the paid plan you chose and billing begins. To avoid being charged, cancel any time before the trial ends — your account then moves to Free. If you do end up on Free and you're over the Free plan's limits, the "smaller plan" cleanup above applies.

Refunds

Subscriptions renew automatically, and plan changes are handled by the rules above rather than by refunds. If you think you were charged in error, or you have a special circumstance, please contact us — we'll look into it. Refund eligibility can also depend on the app store you purchased through (see below) and on consumer-protection laws where you live.

To reach us, email support@goshadowing.com with the email on your account and the charge in question.

If you subscribed through an app store

If you bought your subscription inside the iPhone app (through Apple) rather than on the web, Apple handles that billing — including refunds — under their own policy. You'd manage the subscription and request any refund through your Apple account, not through Shadow Edge. Subscriptions bought on the web are managed in Account → Billing.

Lifetime plans are one-time purchases and aren't part of the upgrade/downgrade/cancel cycle above. If you have a question about a lifetime purchase, contact support.
