Your responsibility when practicing with copyrighted sources

Shadow Edge is a personal practice tool. It comes with a curated library of practice content that's ready to use. When you import your own sources, Shadow Edge doesn't host that content — instead, it fetches the sources you provide and turns them into practice segments on your device or in your private library. This page is about those imported sources.

You are responsible for the sources you import. Only use material you have the right to use — content you own, content licensed to you, content under a permissive license, or content available under fair use in your jurisdiction. Shadow Edge assumes no liability for any consequences resulting from infringement.

Practical guidance

  • If you're not sure whether you can use a source, you probably shouldn't.
  • Practicing with content from your own paid subscription (e.g. a podcast you subscribe to) for personal use is generally fine in most jurisdictions; redistributing it is not.
  • If a rights-holder contacts you, take it seriously and stop using that source.

If you believe content you own is being used in Shadow Edge in a way that infringes your rights, see our DMCA / copyright takedown process.
